How Language Selection Works #
-
When a user connects to the Captive Portal or Self-Service Portal, the system automatically detects the language preference set on their device or browser.
-
The selected portal language is then applied both to the login experience and to email communication that follows.
-
If the user’s preferred language is not enabled, the system will fall back to the configured fallback language (e.g., English).
Configuring Language Preferences #
Language settings are managed from the Admin Portal under:Organization → Common Settings → Language Preferences
Administrators can:
-
Enable/disable specific languages
-
Select active languages (available for users)
-
Set a fallback language (used when no match is found)
⚠️ The fallback language is required. We recommend using English as a safe choice for international deployments.
Customizable Text #
Certain text elements on the Captive Portal can be customized by the customer.
-
This includes headers, tab names, and information text (HTML supported).
-
Important: When custom text is modified, the administrator must update the text for each active language individually.
Path to Custom Text Adjustments #
Custom text is configured in the Admin Portal under:Sign In Administration → Login Portal → Portal Configurations → [Select Sign In Module]
From here, administrators can:
-
Switch between enabled languages in the Language selection dropdown.
-
Edit and save Tab Name, Header Text, and Information Text per language.
Example – Captive Portal Language Switching #
-
Swedish (default):
Tab Name: Gästaccess
Header: Ansök om internetaccess
Information Text: “Välkommen till …” -
English:
Tab Name: Guest Access
Header: Apply for internet access
Information Text: “Welcome to …”
Best Practices #
-
Always enable English as one of the active languages for international visitors.
-
Set a fallback language that covers the majority of your users.
-
Maintain consistency: ensure that all custom texts are translated and updated across every active language.
